The Men They Couldn’t Hang + Adam K
7pm – Doors
7:20pm – Adam K
8:30pm – TMTCH
10:30 – Curfew
Unbelievably, The Men They Couldn’t Hang have been around for more than 30 years. It’s a full three decades since ‘Green Fields of France’, their epic début single shot to number 1 in the NME Independent Music Chart. At the same time, Maggie Thatcher was crushing the mine-workers, an event recorded in the Men’s poignant elegy, ‘Shirt of Blue’. This is a song the band still play today, its meaning altering with the years.
Drummers may come and go (as did original bassist Shanne Bradley), but TMTCH’s line-up of Stefan Cush, Swill Odgers, Paul Simmonds and Ricky McGuire have remained steady since 1986.
With the addition of long-time associate Tom Spencer on banjo and guitar and Nick Sputnik on drums and washboard, plus Bobby Valentino on fiddle and Clark Gable impressions, The Men intend to do serious damage over their two special shows at The Borderline.
Both nights will feature different sets and have different support acts, with further details announced closer to the event, so keep your eyes peeled.
If you want to make sure you don’t miss a single beat, we’re offering a set of tickets to each show for just £29.50 advanced. These are limited to just 50 pairs, so make sure you get in early!
