On 1st November 2015 six of Britain’s best indie and post rock bands will play an all-day gig at The Borderline aiming to raise £10,000 for refugees in Calais, Northern France.
The event, inspired by the work of Jaz O’Hara from The Worldwide Tribe and CalAid, also aims to raise awareness about the refugee situation in France. O’Hara will present clips from her soon-to-be-released documentary about life in the Calais ‘Jungle’.
In true rock ‘n’ roll spirit USA Nails, Mothlite, Mower, Twin Graves, Scandinavia and a soon to be announced legendary headline act will be sticking it to the man. As well as the live sets there will be a raffle with prizes donated by the bands themselves, and a post-event auction of signed memorabilia.
The £10K target will be raised by ticket sales, crowd-funded donations, merchandise, raffle and post-event auction. All funds will go to the CalAid charity who work directly on the ground in Calais.
Organiser Mark McCafferty said, ‘In times of trouble music is a powerful way to bring together support for people in crisis. I really admire the work being done in Calais by The Worldwide Tribe and hope Refugee Rock can raise chunk of cash to help keep up their good work.’
Gig goers are also asked to dig deep and donate via the fund-raising page, which can be found here.
Doors open at 14:30, with the first act taking the stage at 15.45. The internationally renowned headline act will be announced on October 4th 2015.
