Curved Air is one of Britain’s best-loved and enduring rock acts. Their infrequent live appearances never fail to thrill an increasing number of fans, both old and new. The band’s experimental mix of classical themes, electronic sounds and rock energy produces moving and timeless creations that are performed with fire and passion by some of the best musicians in the business.
Curved Air is fronted by original singer/creator Sonja Kristina who, together with original percussionist and drummer Florian Pilkington Miksa are joined by a bevvy of fine musicians who largely arrived via Sonja Kristina’s and Darryl Way’s solo projects.
As Sonja Kristina explains:
“These are virtuoso musicians. Robert Norton on keyboards is exceptional — as is Paul Sax, a unique violinist, one of the first entrants to the Yehudi Menuhin School, and veteran of many alternative bands – a passionate and brave performer… Both Paul Sax and Robert Norton recorded and toured with my Acid Folk band between 1988 and 1996.
Every member of the band is a brilliant player and an inspiring person. Ex Darryl Way’s Verisma bandmate, bass player Chris Harris is literally our root on bass. Now AIRCUT guitarist Kirby Gregory has returned to Curved Air after 40 years to add his signature guitar sound. There is great chemistry and communication in this incarnation of Curved Air that the crowds love…“
Curved Air will be performing all their classic tracks including ‘Back Street Luv’, ‘It Happened Today’, ‘Vivaldi’, ‘Marie Antoinette’, ‘Phantasmagoria’ and ‘Everdance’, as well as some great recent songs. Their albums have often sold very well, and their first album, ‘Airconditioning’, is doubly renowned for being the first rock music picture disc.
