Austin Lucas + Emily Barker + The Dreaming Spires
We are pleased to announce a triple bill of Americana talent at London’s iconic venue The Borderline on 26th October 2016.
Austin Lucas (Indiana, USA), Emily Barker (Stroud, UK) and The Dreaming Spires (Oxford, UK) will host what is sure to be an evening of exceptional music.
Austin Lucas returns to Europe for the second time in 2016, celebrating the release of the acclaimed ‘Between The Moon & The Midwest’ album. “Between The Moon & The Midwest may slot in what looks to outsiders like a narrow gap between Sturgill Simpson’s cosmic choogle and the harder rock of Jason Isbell, but in country terms that’s a canyon -and it belongs to Austin Lucas” Q Magazine. Austin will be playing a fullband show with The Dreaming Spires backing him.
Emily Barker has just returned from Memphis where she has been recording her latest album with Grammy-award winning producer and engineer Matt Ross-Spang (Jason Isbell, Margo Price). Prolific and consistently excellent, Emily recently released a solo album (The Toerag Sessions, a UK Americana Album of the Year nominee) as well as being a member of Applewood Road, whose debut album was acclaimed as “flawless” by The Sunday Times.
It has been a busy time for Oxford’s finest The Dreaming Spires, who have been on the road touring hard including a trip to the USA to play the Americana Awards in Nashville and an appearance on BBC’s The Andrew Marr Show. They’ve also just released the mini-LP Paisley Overground, a knowing nod towards their musical influences, but also a step forward into a new-fangled jangle! Three of The Dreaming Spires songs were recorded at the legendary Ardent Studios in Memphis, home of the equally-legendary Big Star!
We think you’ll agree that this is a unique opportunity to see three of the best the Americana genre has to offer.
